Plantain flower Vada/Vazhalaipoo Vada

Ingredients:

vazhaipoo/plantain flower - 1cup
Thoor dal – 2tsp
moong dal - 2tsp
Gram dal – 1cup
Urad dal – 1/4cup
kadalai – 1/4cup
red chilly – reqd
Ginger – 1pc
garlic - 3pods
Onion
Coriander leaves
Salt

Method :

~soak all dal for 1hr.
~then grind Ginger + red chilly + garlic first.
~then add vazhaipoo, dals, salt and grind. (Coarse paste)
~add very little water while grinding.
~then add Onion , Coriander leaves.
~then dumplings of the mixture and deep fry it in hot oul
~vazhaipoo-kadalai vada ready.

Serve hot with chilli sos or pudina chutney

Nasi Goreng/Fried rice

I am really happy to share this Malaysian recipe, i love this rice. My cousin sister used to prepare it, she is an expert in this. I got this recipe from her, She lives in Malaysia, will post more recipes learning from her. I thought i will share this excellent rice variety with you my dear friends, this is very simple to cook but taste tremendous.

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Rice - 1 cup


  • Cabbage chopped


  • Beans chopped


  • Garlic - 5 pods finely chopped


  • Onion - 1 finely chopped


  • Eggs - 4


  • red chillies - 5


  • Ginger - 1 inch


  • soya sos - 1 tsp


  • Tomato ketch - 1 tsp


  • Oil - for sauteing


  • Salt - required


  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp


  • Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Preparation:
  • First of all you need cooked rice, even you can used the left over rice.


  • very finely chop the onions and garlic.


  • Chop the beans and cabbage and keep it aside.


  • In some hot water, soak the redchillies and keep it aside for 15 min


  • Heat 2 tsp of oil in the pan, once the oil is hot.


  • Add the chopped garlic, toss till slight brown.


  • Now add the chopped onion, saute till golden brown.


  • Then add the chopped vegetables to this mixture.


  • Let it get cooked for some time, in the mean time grind the soaked red chillies and ginger to a fine paste.


  • Now add the paste to the vegetables, mix well.


  • Add 1 tsp of soya sos and tomato ketchup, add some water if required.


  • Mix well and cook for some time.


  • Now add the cooked rice, mix well to it. now check for salt


  • if required add the salt and chilli powder as required and pepper powder


  • Be cautious about the spice, if you are serving for kids


  • Break and toss all the egg in a bowl, add salt,chilli powder and pepper powder to the eggs


  • In a new pan, cook the egg, Scrabble it into pieces.


  • Garnish the rice with this cooked egg.


  • Serve hot.
This rice will not require any side dish or gravy.

Tomato Bath

Ingredients:
  • Ripen tomatoes - 4 chopped roughly

  • Onion - 2 chopped lengthwise

  • Coconut milk - 1 cup

  • Basmathi rice - 1 cup

  • Bay leaf - 1

  • saunf - 1/2 tsp

  • cloves - 2

  • Cashews - 1 tsp

  • Corriander leaves - chopped 1/2 bunch

  • Mint leaves - 1/2 bunch

  • chilli powder - 1 tsp

  • cumin powder - 1 tsp

Preparation:

  • Soak basmati rice for 10 min

  • Heat 4 tsp of oil in the cooker, once the oil is hot add the bayleaf,cloves and saunf, toss well.

  • Add the chopped onion, saute them till golden brown.

  • Then add the chopped tomato, mix well, close the cooker lid for 2min

  • Allow the tomatoes to becomes mushy and soft.

  • Add the 1 tsp of chilli powder and 1 tsp of cumin powder

  • Now add the mint leaves and corriander leaves, mix well

  • Toss for 2 min, then add the soaked rice to this

  • Then add the coconut milk and 1/2 glass of water

  • Mix well and pressure cook the rice for 1 whistle

Serve hot with onion raita and chips

Soup tagged with Fries

Ingredients:
  • Ripe Tomotoes - 4


  • Pepper powder - acc to taste


  • Onion chopped - 1/2 length wise


  • Butter - 2 tsp


  • Salt - acc to taste


  • cornflour - 1/4 tsp - mixed in water.

Preparation:


  • Heat 1 cup of water, in a close pan and allow it boil


  • Now add the whole tomotoes to the water, close it and cook it for 5 min


  • Turn off the heat, shift the tomotes from boiling water to cold water


  • after few seconds, the outer skin will peel down, if not u can remove it with ease


  • now smash the tomotoes, put them in a blender and make a thin paste


  • Now filter the syrup out of it and keep it aside


  • Heat 2 tsp of butter in a pan, add the chopped onion, close and cook till the onion is golden brown.


  • Now add the tomoto syrup to it, add pepper powder, 1/4 tsp of cornflour mixed with water


  • Allow it to boil finally add salt to taste and serve hot.

Fries

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes - 2 cut thin length wise


  • Salt


  • Pepper


  • Oil - for frying

Preparation:


  • Remove the outer skin for the potatoes


  • Cut them thin length wise, press out the water, if the pototes are wet


  • Heat oil, slight higher than medium


  • Add the sliced potatoes to it, fry till golden brown


  • Remove them in a kitchen tissue paper, this will remove excess oil


  • Now put all the fried potatoes in a bowl


  • Sprinke salt and pepper,toss and toss for 2 sec


  • Serve hot with the soup

Ginger Shake

I thought i will share this excellent prescription for sore throat
I was suffering from Sore throat and dry cough for the last week, when i called my mom she
told me to prepare Ginger hot shake and have it twice a day. To my surprise the irritation in the throat is fully gone.
I am completely relieved now. Let me share this wonderful homecure now..

Ingredients:
Ginger- 2 inch piece [ chopped roughly]
remove the outer over, clean it completely
Lemon juice - 2 drops
Honey - 2 tsp
Salt - pinch
Sugar - if required[optional]
Method:
Blend the ginger finely
Mix 1 glass of water and 2 drops of lemon juice with this blended ginger
Allow it water to boil nicely, close the lid and allow it to boil for 2 min
Remove it from heat, filter it.
Add honey to this ginger water and pinch of salt
If you require sugar, mix a little bit
Drink it sip by sip, do not cool it down
Drink it, as hot as possible.
